Serving Northwest Arkansas Since 1917

Collier Mission Statement

To joyfully serve the people of Northwest Arkansas by exceeding customer expectations while using our expertise and resources to go above and beyond to treat each customer as if they were a friend.

Thank You for Voting Us "Best of NWA"!

Family owned and operated independent pharmacies serving the Northwest Arkansas area

We have all the services and products (and more) that the other pharmacies have, but we strive to treat each patient like they are a member of our own family.

At Collier Drug Store, we place an emphasis on quality – quality service, quality products, and a quality overall experience. We value taking care of our patients, and often go out of our way to ensure that’s exactly what happens.

We make an effort to get to know our patients by name and to treat you like our own family. We care about our patients, because our patients are our neighbors, and Collier Drug has been taking care of its neighbors since 1917.  Now with 11 locations, our pharmacies are convenient and ready to serve the people of NWA.

Our History

1917-1955

The Collier family began their tradition of serving Northwest Arkansas back in 1917 when M.M. Collier opened the Red Cross Drug Store on the downtown Fayetteville Square. In 1930, Morris G. Collier joined his father serving as a pharmacist.

In 1950, the family opened a second store on Dickson Street and named it Collier Drug Store. They continued to operate both pharmacies until 1955 when the Red Cross Drug Store was destroyed by a fire. The Dickson Street location later doubled in size when the store was expanded north into a building that was previously home to a lumber yard.

At the new location, Collier Drug was a modern pharmacy with an old-timey atmosphere that featured a soda fountain. When the doors opened on Dickson Street in 1950, they opened with the help of electricity. The only other building in Arkansas that had electric doors at the time was the state Capitol.

In the 1970s, Carl Collier and his brother, Morris H. Collier, started working as pharmacists alongside their father, Morris G. In 1973, the store became the fourth pharmacy in the United States to use a computer to keep track of prescriptions.

In 1994, Carl’s son, Mel, graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in management and officially joined the family business full-time. With a deep respect for the legacy his grandfather began and his father nurtured, Mel brought a fresh perspective to Collier Drug Store. In 2007, he became the third-generation owner—and notably, the first not to be a pharmacist. Under Mel’s leadership, the company has grown thoughtfully, adding new locations while preserving the personal touch and trusted care that have defined Collier Drug for over a century. In 2017, the Collier family and community proudly celebrated 100 years of service.

Today, you don’t have to go far to find a Collier Drug location ready to serve you. Under Mel’s guidance, the company has expanded across Northwest Arkansas, yet it continues the tradition of compassionate, community-centered service that M.M. Collier began back in 1917.
